  • This article will cover my journey in browsing the Oracle website

  • I will cover only the browsing journey in the Oracle website only for the OCA Java SE 8 Programmer Learning Path.

So I woke up today, 9th of June 2023, deciding that I want to start documenting my journey towards my long-time-ago goal, to be certified as a programmer.

I am not an actual Java programmer, I am PHP and Javascript but I do hold systems written in Java as I am winging my way through my manager role.

It is a long-time-ago goal because I have been eyeing to get official certifications since I started my dev career, but I think it's time that I close up my dev years certifying myself, I chose OCA. Who knows, I might always take it to the next level.

This is the journey I need to go through in order earn the Oracle Certified Associate, Java SE 8 Programmer.

Gotta love the journey.

The first to third item are free of charge so you can just login to your account and access it. https://mylearn.oracle.com/ou/learning-path/java-se-8-programmer-associate/40821

The fourth item has a 'Register Now' button that takes you to the page which gives you details about the exam. I found the Buy Exam button a little lower, so I gave it a click.

It led me to the list of exams available, which confused me at first.

I find this course a little bit overpriced and unreasonable because this includes a lot of courses aside from just the one that I need and it is only good for 6 months of access. But anyway, that is their pricing model. What we want to buy from here is the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and Technology Exams worth ₱13877 in my currency. The course that we are targetting is the Java SE 8 Programmer I - 1Z0-808.

That's it for now. The goal of this writing is to document my journey in taking this certification and hopefully will help others who are just starting and lost like I was 10 years ago.
